Sunday 27 March 2016

Today is Sunday the 27th of March. It is quarter to eleven and pretty bright outside. A group of teenagers are playing football, probably about a dozen of them. They're using coats as goal posts.
Two individuals who appear to not know each other are letting their dogs play with each other.
A group of middle aged women, 5 of them are jogging together.
Not too far from me, a boy is eating a chocolate egg while walking with his dad. He's dropping some wrappers on the ground. His dad definitely noticed but doesn't seem to care. Guess I'm going to have to pick that up myself later.
A group of four friends have come over into the grass for a chat and a sit down.
Cyclists keep on having trouble with people in this intersection. Guess it would be difficult to deal with people coming in from all paths.
Another jogger just ran past.
Just the usual again today, people walking and not much else...
An elderly lady just walked past carrying her dog, so much for dag walking.
Right, I've got some chocolate to eat at home, I'm done for today.

Saturday 26 March 2016

Today, it seems a busker has stolen my bench, so I'm sitting on the bench opposite. Guess I should've expected that on a Saturday. It is the 26th of March, one day before Easter. It is about two o'clock.
A few people are around the musician, listening. He's playing some sort of metallic dish thing on his lap, kinda sounds like a guitar, rather relaxing. Some come and some go every so often mostly families with children stopping by, probably wondering what he's playing.
Meanwhile, a group of teenagers are on the grass playing ultimate frisbee. A couple of adults are idly watching.
What seems to be a couple is sitting down in the grass on the other side of the path from the teenagers. Its a busier than previous days but people seem to be in less of a rush.
Still a few joggers even though its just after midday.
The musician has finished a song, most people are walking away now.
Another similar sized group has formed around the busker since he's started playing again.
Some cyclists are having difficulty passing by the group since people are walking in and out of the group and all pathways are connecting to this hot-spot. Could be potentially dangerous if someone were to not be paying attention.
Not much more is happening right now. Just more people walking, jogging and cycling.
Frisbee group is taking a break.
Been sitting here for the past 15 minutes and haven't really had anything more to write up, so I'm going to go and hope there is something more exciting next time.

Thursday 24 March 2016

Today is Thursday the 24th of March. Pretty cloudy so hope it doesn't rain while I'm sitting here, might be a short one. Its close to four o'clock. Not many people around right now.
Couple of people walking on the path, no one on the grass, a man in the distance who seems to be walking a golden retriever.
A woman in sports gear just ran past me.
As usual, a cyclist just went past on the main path.
I've been sitting here for half an hour and nothing unusual is happening, just people walking past (probably to and from university judging by their age), people cycling and the occasional person walking their dog.
A woman just let her dog defecate near a tree without picking it up and throwing it away, pretty sure that's illegal.
Starting to drizzle, going to walk home now, don't want to get too drenched.

Tuesday 22 March 2016

Today is Monday the 21st of March, sitting down on my bench after a full day at university. It is just after half past five. Just like last week, a lot of students are using the pathway except this time there are six groups sat down on the grass. Whilst most are just chatting, one of the groups closest to me are also drinking some beer. I can here them complaining about some coursework they've just apparently finished.
Many cyclists coming to a from the path from the city center, the one with the coffee shop and Sainsbury's on it.
Someone just asked me for a lighter since I was smoking.
I can see two small dogs running after each other in the distance, can't tell who their owner(s) is/are.
A couple of elderly ladies have come over to sit down on a bench opposite to mine.
Just overheard one of the drinking students (girl) if their were any toilets nearby and one of the boys responding by saying "bushes".
Looks like there is always at least one cyclist or jogger in sight.
The elderly ladies have now gotten up and left, didn't look like they were doing much more than talking.
A group of students have gotten up and left too now.
It is starting to get dark, guess that's my cue for me to get going too.

Wednesday 16 March 2016

Today is Wednesday the 16th of March, was on my way to my first university lecture of the day for ten o'clock when I decided to get started with observing my public space as I'm going to be a little early. It is about quarter to 9. A lot of people are walking by, but not in a constant stream. Seems like there are big groups of people and then pauses where only a couple people walk by. Never noticed it before when walking to university but I think the traffic lights before the meadows is causing this.
Most people seem to either be students or office workers walking towards the city center. There is no real way of knowing this apart for judging by attire. Some students are wearing their Edinburgh university hoodie though.
An older man is now walking past. He is taking his two dogs out, they are running around the grassy bit.
Two mothers are now walking past each pushing a pushchair.
I've also noticed a few cyclists passing by on the cycling lane.
In addition, a few joggers are running past every so often.
Looks like someone else is bringing their dog to the meadows, except this time, they've brought one of those big spoon like contraptions for throwing balls. Never understood why you would need one of those. The dog seems happy enough though. The owner is pretending to throw the ball since the dog is always anticipating having to catch the ball.
Cyclist just almost crashed into someone, swerved out of the way at the last second. The almost victim didn't notice until the last second, was staring at the ground while walking. I've observed most people walking alone have headphones on.
